About Us
The Indian Metabolomics Society (IMS) was established in 2024 by a group of early-career researchers from the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute, SRM University - AP, and the University of Hyderabad. The society is dedicated to promoting the research, development, and understanding of metabolomics within the life sciences.
Metabolomics, a newly emerged field of "omics" research, focuses on the comprehensive analysis of small molecule metabolites in biological systems. It provides valuable insights into the metabolic status and global biochemical events associated with cellular or biological processes.
The IMS aims to foster collaboration and encourage integrated research across institutions. Representatives from participating institutions can propose and organize conferences that highlight current advancements and ongoing research in metabolomics and related fields.
As a platform for researchers, IMS facilitates connections between scientists from diverse institutions, promoting knowledge exchange, professional networking, and discussions on areas of mutual research interest.
The Indian Metabolomics Society is an independent, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors, composed of dedicated members of the metabolomics community, and remains committed to serving its members. The society's vision is to become the premier organization supporting the development of metabolism-based research in India and beyond.
